Went there this morning, it has a ton of atmosphere, the staff is great, my coffee cup never got empty, anyone who passes tries to fill it up, the busboy cleans your table as soon as your finished, nice, The food? well I got the garbage skillet and it was not that impressive, the bacon was kinda rubbery, like maybe it had been cooked too long ago, the rest of the ingredients were, what's that word meh? maybe next time I'll try something else, but they are always busy so maybe my bad meal was a fluke.

I tried this place out based on the other review, but honestly I was not impressed. I found my skillet to be very greasy. I was not impressed with the slices of processed American cheese on top. I left w/ a serious stomach ache from this place. Plus, they don't accept credit cards, only cash. Welcome to the 21st century!

LOVE the family atmosphere of this place! The food is good -- menu could use some changing up and creative additions. Breakfast is pretty basic - have only had the turkey sandwich and soup for lunch picks - but they are both so good, I recommend them! Staff is wonderful and work their *arses* off! Great little local cozy place that you won't spend a fortune and you get your $$ worth!

I rarely come out this way but when I do I always stop by the Country Charm. This breakfast joint has always been a favorite of mine, I can't help but love the country ambiance! I ate with a friend today, he ordered the #1, two eggs, two pancakes, and hash browns w/ gravy, I ordered the spinach/feta omelette with hash browns and whole grain toast. After ordering our food it only took about ten minutes for it to come to our table. Great service, always with a smile too! I must say I can really tell they use the freshest ingredients as the food is always top notch! We both left in agreement that we'll have to come back soon.

Excellent for breakfast. Didn't nit pick over ingredients in vegetarian omelet. Substitutions easy. Very nice staff. Looked happy in their job. Worked cooperatively. Huge plate of unsalted food helped for special diets. Lots of bread choices too. Happy customers. Pleasant country surroundings. Very clean. Lots of seating.

We've been coming to this place for 13 years now and have never had an issue with the food or service before. But the last time we were there for the half-sandwich-and-soup special, our waitress (looked like a new one) totally forgot to bring mustard as we requested, and we could not catch her attention again no matter how hard we tried. By the time she came by again to give us our check, we had already finished our dry sandwiches, so we didn't see any need to remind her about what she had forgotten. We just didn't leave a tip. I'm not going to stop coming to this place just because of one sub-standard incident. But they might want to consider keeping mustard on the tables along with the ketchup.

I had the Biscuits & Gravy, 1 Egg, & Sausage patty. Egg was cooked just as I ordered and was good. Sausage patty had good flavor. Biscuits and gravy I thought fell a little short. I enjoyed the gravy but I thought the Biscuits were very small and kind of heavy. Place was extremely busy but the service was still very good. Waitress took our order quickly and food was brought out much sooner than we would have expected even if the place would have been empty. Cost was very reasonable.
Decent little diner restaurant. I totally felt like I was in Wisconsin, Indiana, or Iowa?? It doesn't look like they've done any upgrades inside here for 50 years? But they had decent food and although we were never offered a drink refill and never had our waitress check back with us- it was ok.

Went for breakfast with 2 small kids. There was a long wait which I expected since it was a Sunday morning. Found this place through yelp looking for a good breakfast place since we just recently moved. Food was good and our service was good. It wasn't excellent like a 5 star restaurant but this is a breakfast place that is packed! So it's about as good as it can get! Would go back again.

This place is a staple of classic New Lenox. Best breakfast in town!! The service is quick, the people are nice, the food is great, and the prices are fair. Even if you have to wait to be seated, it isn't as long as you think. As I mentioned, the service is so quick here. I have so many different items here over the years and I've never had a bad experience. I have nothing bad to say about this place, so I'll just stop the review here.

Perfect embodiment of a small town diner. The menu is great for breakfast and lunch. They have plenty of traditional and some more interesting options to keep you coming back for more each week. The staff is one of the friendliest and best in town. This place is quality! A true gem of New Lenox.

I don't review many breakfast places because I've always kind of thought that they were all about the same. I mean, how hard is it to make eggs and pancakes? Well, my eyes have been open to what a really well run and quality breakfast place looks like. From the outside it looks like every other breakfast place. Once you walk in you can immediately feel the warm ambiance and welcoming decorations of a country kitchen. This place is always packed so expect to wait for 5 to 10 minutes (worth it!). The service staff is comprised of mostly middle aged women that could be your mother. The service is as crisp and well-trained as I have ever seen. I have never had to beg for a heater or chase down a server. The food comes out lightening fast. It is always fresh and hot and you know it was on the griddle moments ago. No such thing as heat lamps in this place. I respect an establishment where you can see the owner walking around every single time you dine there. That type of passion breeds really good employees in the kitchen and on the serving floor, and it shows. I have never met a person that didn't love "The Charm". I recommend it highly, you won't be disappointed!

Dudes. Go to Illinois and have yourself some of the Country Charm. I'm serious, if you're in the neighborhood, do it. The waitstaff is so nice they will knock your socks right off, your food will be delivered in like 5 minutes, and it's the best comfort food around. Omellettes, Scrambles, Skillets, oh my. Diner-ish and wonderful, I like the Country Charm.

My wife and I just got home from another wonderful and inexpensive breakfast meal at the Country Charm restaurant. And again the service was extremely friendly and attentive to our needs. I ordered the full order of the sausage and biscuit gravy. I have had this at many restaurants and I highly recommend it at Country Charm. I truly believe they make the BEST biscuit and sausage gravy meal. The gravy is thick, not watered down. It is loaded with ingredients. It truly tastes so delicious. The biscuits are always moist and fresh. Maria ordered an eggs benedict type of dish. This came with the biscuit and gravy sauce. She said the ham was excellent, crispy and tasted like it was right off the bone. We also ordered an English muffin and drinks for our meal. The total came to roughly $18 dollars. We left Country Charm totally full. Where can you go for a complete breakfast and excellent service for such a cheap price. So my wife and I highly recommend the Country Charm restaurant. Even if you are not in the Joliet area you should make the trip for an outstanding breakfast.

I have been coming here for years for my breakfast/brunching pleasure. The eggs are good the waitresses are adorable and the food aint half bad. It's pretty standard stuff: egg specials, omelettes, pancakes, skillets and the such. All decent nothing spectacular. The skillets aren't as good as I remember them being, the one I had this time was lacking in almost every way. Not enough cheese or "fillings" (vegetables and the like) as it were and the potatoes were bland and barely cooked. Part of that was my fault as I forgot to ask for the hashbrowns well done but the rest was just bad form on their part. My partner in crime enjoyed her two egg meal very much and my bacon was cooked perfectly so all in all the trip wasn't a total bust. One bad trip in 50 isn't a bad track record if you ask me and I'll be back here again.

In New Lenox, this is a great place for breakfast or lunch. They know how to make a good breakfast here as well as excellent lunches. We have tried a variety of things on the menu and everything has been delicious and a good value. This is so much better than fast food, but they are quick on the service, too. I recommend this place.

I have been in love with the Charm of country charm since it opened. The Biscuits and gravy are famous for a reason, they rock! I also recommend the tuna melt at lunch. It is not something for calorie counters but comfort food usually is not. They do have a really good selection of healthier dishes that still have flavor and look good too. My favorite is the tuna stuffed tomato with fruit and cottage cheese. It is picture pretty. The skillets are ample and the pancakes I swear can be eaten on their own. They are that good. George and the family have been wonderful in the community and the tradition lives on with the younger generation expanding and keeping the home town feel of the restaurant. If you have to wait for a seat just know it is worth the wait.

An absolute must go to restaurant! When you combine unbelievable service with amazing cooks, you get a family owned Country Charm. They just recently expanded, making the dining area twice as large, and I'm telling you they needed all the space they could get. The place is constantly packed. The waitresses are the fastest around, and the cooks have to bend the laws of physics at cooking time because I have never waited longer than 10 minutes after ordering to get my food. If you're a large man like myself, order the Tractor Pull and enjoy a combination of everything a real man enjoys: bacon, ham, sausage, cheddar cheese, eggs, hashbrowns, and a half order of biscuits and gravy on top to seal a massive deal.

This little gem is located in the middle of dumpy New Lenox. I've gone here for years and have always been a fan of the good prices, the good coffee, and the great Melting Pot (hold the eggs). While the area looks terrible due to New Lenox's total lack of drive of ever getting Rt. 30 done, the inside of the restaurant is beautiful, the menus are attractively laid out, and the waitresses are some of the best you'll meet!

My family decided to try this restaurant before a trip to the zoo but it was so packed and the wait was so long we decided to leave. Recently we came back and only had to wait a few minutes for a table but the restaurant was still packed and people were waiting while we ate so I did feel rushed because I felt sorry for the people who were waiting and hungry. The area to wait in is so small that people have to wait outside and are constantly bumping into each other. The Banana bread french toast I had was delicious easily the best french toast I have EVER had. I really liked their hashbrowns too. The orange juice tasted watery but that is similar to other restaurants orange juice. We got our food within minutes but had to order basically the second we sat down. If you are sensitive to sound or have hearing aids this is not the place for you. It is so noisy with dishes clanging constantly. I could barely here my family members talking to me. Overall I think this is an amazing restaurant because the food was much better than other restaurants.

"No coffee, crispy hash browns in my medium-rare butt steak skillet and Greek toast, unbuttered" sounded pretty clear to me. When a cup of coffee arrived for me, I figured mild confusion set in...no biggie. Then came my meal. I received "hash barely-browns" and some buttered Greek toast with my very well done butt steak skillet. So, if country charm means a cute place with acute lack of concern for what I order, I'll take an upgrade to McDonald's drive thru instead. Nothing here inspires a second visit from me. I can stay at home and get ignored for free.

Ive come here for years. Used to come every Saturday with my dad as a kid. Came after midnight shifts before bed for years. Brought each of my children here since they were born and they loved it. But no more. Since the new owner has taken over/remodel project, slowly things have significantly changed. The prices nearly doubled, the portion sizes shrunk, and the food quality has gone down considerably. This has been my favorite breakfast place for about 25 years, my whole family literally loved this place, but these issues ruined it for us. 2 stars since they have the worlds greatest waitresses. I will not miss what the food has become, but I will miss our interactions.

The Country Charm restaurant is a nice little gem in the otherwise bleak selection of places to eat in the commercial area of New Lenox. This is a town that likes breakfast, a fact made clear by several establishments that thrive on the 6am-3pm crowd. Even so, the Charm shines. Even when its busy, you're seated quickly. Food is always served in that time frame where you're thinking "That was quick" as opposed to "Finally". The food is great, and the portions leave you satisfied. Not too full, but you certainly won't feel lacking. The french toast is one of my favorites, along with the skillets. The coffee is also really good, far better than what you'd expect from a family restaurant. Part of what really makes the food a nice surprise is the cost. As the type of person who almost always eats with someone else, I have a lot to compare against when it comes to eating out for two. Surprisingly enough, I spend less here than at, say, the unnecessary IHOP that New Lenox just received. I do end up evening out the cost though, as the excellent wait staff always gets a well deserved tip. There's just something about eating here. Something that makes it the place I keep coming back to despite Double Yolk, Mattina's Cafe, Cozy Cafe, etc. all being just as close, not only in distance, but in price (Cozy is very cheap), and selection. People who live here already know its good, considering its been in business for something like 30 years. If you're passing through during breakfast, you'd do well to stop by the Country Charm.

First time I came here it sucked decided to give it another try today and alas it was horrible. Food was ordinary wait time was about 20 minutes, service was horrible. Do not get the turkey sausage it tastes really bad. It's also a more expensive choice for breakfast in the area. Just go to Chef Klaus.

Went on a Saturday morning about 9, busy but not slammed, very fast service, absolutly perfect scrambled eggs, pretty good coffee for a brekfast place, biscuits and gravy a little on the peppery side (and I like pepper), hash browns nothing special. But they work fast, serve fast and clean tables faster than any place I've ever seen, you don't wait long here for anything, great breakfast spot for good money.

We have driven past this place for years, admittedly judging a book by it's cover. From the outside it doesn't look like much...but on the inside awaits a warm, clean, friendly down-home atmosphere and a delicious breakfast. We ordered a variety of different items (omlette, skillet, pancakes, biscuits & gravy) and everything was delivered before my coffee had cooled enough for me to take my first sip! Everything was wonderful and a good value for the price. The biscuits and gravy are sinfully creamy and spicy - I wouldn't miss them if I were you! We will make up for lost time with Country Charm by fast becoming regulars.

Bland Bland Bland. Went there for lunch ordered fried pickles, over fried, and they were sticking out of the coating. Split pea soup was the same nothing special. My friend had a regular breakfast of eggs, potatoes, & Bacon. Just very plain food. Nothing special. If your into plain tasting food, this is your spot. Plus the owner is very unfriendly, he doesn't even greet customers as they walk in even if he's at the register. Show a little gratuity.

I go out to breakfast 2 or 3 times a month with a dear friend who adores this place and everyone who works there adores her. As a result I have gone to this restaurant on multiple occasions and I enjoy watching her enjoy being here. Everyone is extremely friendly and you gets lot of really hot coffee with lots of smiles. For service, an absolute 5. But the food is more like a 2. The juices and breads, in my opinion, are industrial grade. I would say that if you like the food at Denny's but don't want a chain and are looking for more of a friendly atmosphere, you will like this restaurant. We will settle on a 3 and a hug.

For lunch I will have to go elsewhere. I really wanted to love it because it's close by to my new home but the portion was small and the chicken salad sandwich was so sweet with too much relish in it. The turkey melt grilled was pretty good with Swiss cheese but nothing to go crazy for. The cream soup was flavorless. I'd go back to try breakfast but not lunch.

I'm a regular now, a great warm cozy family atmosphere. They know exactly what I order every time I come. The biscuits & gravy should win an award. Also the bacon is phenomenal. They have specials and for the little money you have to pay it's a steal. Try the #2 special which comes with one egg, biscuits and gravy, and a piece of bacon. You may think it's not a lot of good but just trust me you will leave full. Btw there coffee is a perfect breakfast blend to me, not to overpowering but yet not to wimpy! Can't wait to get there in the morning!

Great American breakfast joint. So my dear wife and I take in the Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt acoustic guitar concert at the Rialto Square Theater in Joliet on February 11, 2011, and on the way back to Champaign we are cutting through the very bleak, snow-covered, New Lennox, Illinois, in need of Saturday morning breakfast. This place was just what the doctor ordered. It was about 9 a.m. on a Saturday and the place was full. Put our name on the list and waited about ten minutes for a table. Menu was clear, prices were reasonable, and the food was served very quick. The breakfasts were just as we hoped, just like any of the excellent Greek owned and operated breakfast joints in Chicagoland. Sign inside indicated the place was owned by George Papagos. We paid $16 plus a tip for two hearty breakfasts and 2 coffees.

I love this place! I'm a huge fan of anything covered in the sausage gravy. They also have turkey sausage, but honestly the menu doesn't cater to a healthy breakfast. If you are in thew New Lenox area for breakfast I would rate this as a top choice! Prices are competitive and service friendly as well.

I've been here for breakfast 10+ times over the past 10 years. I've been satisfied most times. The last time I went the service wasn't very good and I didn't enjoy my meal. Why 3 stars? Overall I've enjoyed coming here for breakfast because its close and I like to support locally owned businesses. Usually the food is good, but has never impressed me enough to rate it above any of the standard breakfast places. Don't order the greek skillet, the feta and gryo meat are low quality. Stick with the classic dishes and you are sure to be satisfied.

Like many people, I've driven past Country Charm for years and have never stopped in. I was invited out to breakfast by my mom and she suggested there insisting it was wonderful and I figured why not. I'm all for a free breakfast! The inside was cute and quaint. When we went, the main dining room was about 75% full. I'm not sure if someone was supposed to seat us, or if we were to seat ourselves, but we didn't find anyone at the front. After we did seat ourselves someone brought us menus right away and apologized, for what? Not sure. Maybe someone was supposed to seat us after all. I ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito. It did not come with anything at all, which is typical in some places. The chorizo itself was good, not greasy at all which was great. My only complaint is that when putting the burrito together, things were not distributed very evenly. I wasn't aware there was even hash browns in the burrito until I got to the second half and found all eggs and hash browns, whereas the first half was mostly meat and some eggs. The price was fair, and once I realized there was hash browns in their I didn't mind that it came alone. I just wish it was assembled better. My mom asked the waitress about the crab cakes with hollandaise sauce. The waitress shook her head and quickly suggested she go with another dish. I cant remember the name, but it was like Eggs Benedict but on a biscuit and with sausage gravy instead. My mom went back to the crab cakes and asked what kind of crab meat it was. The waitress said it was imitation crab and again suggested the Eggs Benedict dish. When the waitress tries to steer you away from a dish a few times, you know it must be bad. As far as what she did get, she loved. I did not try any, but she let me know you could tell the biscuit was homemade and the gravy was excellent. The menu is quite smaller than most breakfast places, which I actually prefer. The pricing was average. As for my experience, I would say the whole place is average. I would probably eat here again if someone invited me, but I would not go out of my way for it.

Went here for breakfast this morning, based on the reviews on yelp. Food was great, service was great. The most amazing thing is how fast the food came out. It seriously took 5 mins for our food to be on the table. It was faster than drive thru, amazing! I will definitely go back!

This is a place where all the townies somehow love. Probably because it was the first breakfast place in New Lenox. Honestly I think the food is sub-par. So many other places to go to now that serves up a better quality meal. The only GOOD thing about this place is the service. They are actually friendly and quick. Though i don't know if quick is always good. Maybe that's why the food is sub-par.

Good waiting staff. Very prompt and friendly. I always get the Gyro Skillet. They melt the feta cheese on top just the way I like it! Not the best menu selection but this is definitely the best breakfast joint in New Lenox. Who doesn't love Country Charm?

My wife thought the chicken ceaser wrap had a little too much dressing but was good. My Denver omelette was fine. Ambiance was very good. More space then Matina Café. The waitress was there to refill my coffee frequently. I am gluten-free and she gave me fruit instead of toast for no extra charge. The food came out very quickly overall a great place.

This is one of our favorite breakfast places in the area. The meat lovers skillet is delicious. Large portions and great service.

I love this place. I have always had a great experience. Great atmosphere and tasty food.
(5)Mark L.
I visit Country Charm about once a week, and I have yet to be disappointed. The staff is attentive and the menu choices have evolved nicely.

We've been Country Charm customers for 20 years. The food has always been served hot, fast, friendly and tasty. Highly recommended for a breakfast meeting or weekend visit with family or friends.

(5)C L.
Every time I come here its crowded and there is a short wait time. The breakfast is fabulous and you definately wont be hungry afterwards. I wish this place was closer so I have to settle with coming here before or after church.

The name says it all....a very charming country restaurant. Breakfast and Service are Top Notch. The Best Breakfast Place in Da World. They are always packed but your wait time is short.

(4)Matt G.
(2)Kayla K.
Good waiting staff. Very prompt and friendly. I always get the Gyro Skillet. They melt the feta cheese on top just the way I like it! Not the best menu selection but this is definitely the best breakfast joint in New Lenox. Who doesn't love Country Charm?
(4)Paul W.
Been going to Country Charm for many years. George (the owner) is very nice...walks around to visit with patrons. Very good food and served with a smile!
(4)Vince S.
I keep coming back and I keep loving it. Keep up the good work. The lines out the door on the weekends say it all.

Always super busy, so we usually pick up our order and eat at home. A little pricey, but the food is great. Def recommend the biscuits and gravy.
